Pregnancy Tonic Herbal Infusion

Pregnancy Tonic - Contributed by Sarah Kingsbury

Teas, which are steeped or brewed for a few minutes, are mild flavored and have less tea or herbs added.

Infusions, which are nutritional and medicinal, are steeped for hours, and have more herbs added.

This is a nutritional tonic infusion, safe for all pregnant women. It's a great source of calcium, and many other essential vitamins and minerals. The ingredients are recommended by Susun Weed, in her book, "The Childbearing Year."

Pregnancy tonic tea tastes good on it's own, but add sugar or honey if desired.

Ingredients:

1 cup nettle leaves

1 cup red clover

1 cup red raspberry leaves

1/2 cup spearmint leaves

Directions:

  1. Bring 2 1/2 qt. water to a boil and boil for five minutes
  2. Remove from heat, and add 1/2 cup of the herbal mixture
  3. Cover and let sit for at least 4 hours
  4. Strain through a coffee filter, to get out all the leaves & refrigerate up to 2 days.
  5. Warm and drink several times a day.
