Chocolate Avocado Pudding

Quick easy vegan dessert recipe combines chocolate & avocado in a creamy, rich, blissfully delicious pudding. Some may question this combo, but just try it and you'll see - it's an instant addiction!

Make this avocado dessert raw with raw cocoa powder and medjool dates or raw sugar. I added stevia for extra sweetness, but any liquid sweetener, or 1/2 soft ripe banana will also work - just adjust the amount of almond milk.

Possible variations include adding orange zest or 1/4 tsp mint extract.

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (favor raw, fair trade, non-alkalinized)
  • 1/2 cup almond milk + 1/2 - 1 tsp liquid stevia
  • OR 1/4 cup almond milk + 1/4 cup liquid sweetener
  • 1 firm ripe avocado
  • 4 medjool dates, pitted and chopped
  • Optional: 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1 Tbsp orange zest OR 1 tsp mint extract

  • Blend almond milk + stevia or liquid sweetener + cocoa in a blender
  • Peel and chop avocado, add to blender
  • Pit and chop dates, add to blender
  • Blend until the pudding is smooth, adding more almond milk as needed
  • Add optional flavoring and blend

Recipe Tips:

If you have an ordinary blender instead of a high power blender, soaking the dates for an hour or two in hot water will make them easier to blend

This pudding recipe can also be made in a food processor, if yours will make a smooth puree. In that case, start with dates and avocado, then add the liquid ingredients, then the flavoring.
